Settings

Settings are self-defense. Defaults favor platforms, not you. Spend one afternoon locking down accounts before you grow.

Settings priorities

Security — passwords, 2FA, access control
Privacy — what strangers and algorithms see
Notifications — protect attention
Accessibility — captions, alt text habits
Cross-posting discipline — native beats identical
Visual trust — photo and banner basics

Settings ≠ growth hacks

This section will not teach shadowban myths or "post at 7:14 AM" folklore. It teaches stable operation.

One-time setup afternoon (2 hours)

Block	Pages
Hour 1	[Account Security](/settings/account-security) + [Privacy](/settings/privacy-and-visibility)
Hour 2	[Notifications](/settings/notifications-and-boundaries) + [Profile Photo](/settings/profile-photo-and-banner)

Ongoing

Quarterly access review
After any team member change
When a platform updates privacy UI (they will)

Business vs personal accounts

Use business/creator tools where available for analytics and scheduling — not because they magically boost reach, but because they separate work metrics from personal life.

Good settings make it easier to walk away from the app after posting — that is the goal.
